Hello! I just finished rereading Sharp Objects, and I'd love to read more stuff that's similar, with this sort of vibe:
- mysteries/thrillers focused on family drama
- creepy isolated settings
- modern Gothic style
- anything similar to Gillian Flynn's writing style
- "town with a dark secret" trope
- troubled and complex female protagonists are a plus
I'm mostly interested in fiction, but if any memoirs/nonfiction books fit the bill, I'd love to check those out!
I've already read:
- Negative Space by Lilly Dancyger
- Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
- Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberley McCreight
- The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz
- Memorial Drive by Natasha Trethewey
- The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins (liked it until the last fourth or so)
- People Like Her by Ellery Lloyd (didn't like it)
- My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing (didn't like it)
- Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
- These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever
