In one of those overly specific reading moods: looking for a fantasy and/or historical fiction novel with an intelligent female main character or lead. Preferably a focus on problem solving or navigating tricky politics or situations similar. Romance is fine, no or limited romance is also fine. Bonus points if it was published pre-2000 or so.
