I get it, its really hard to be scared by nothing but sight (not even sight tbh, just text I guess?) But I trully believe in my bones that someone out there wrote something scary enough for lil' ol' me, PLEASE
You can share what worked for you, here's some stuff that DIDN'T for me;
– Edgar Allan Poe – don't get me wrong, the dude's great, but Im not particularly shaking in my boots from his flowery writing
– Stephen King – Albeit I didn't read a ton from him, but I feel like he's more plot driven rather than the spooks
– "Stolen Tounges" – Beggining was great, after a while it got kinda goofy (sorry)
– Riley Sager – eh
– Anything splatterpunk – Maybe it would do the job but idk, I want to be scared, not grossed out
What did work for me (not quite books)
– The Mandela Catalogue, particularly the religious content
– The game FAITH
– Resident evil, some of the tension building in that game is just great
– Just oldschool creepypastas in general, Pale luna, Candle cove come to mind
