i’ll cut to the chase! i’m looking for books to help me reconnect with my “faith” ie my belief in Jesus, quietly and privately, away from the modern Christian church and everything it encompasses. i identified as a Christian my whole life, but left the church 7 years ago after my married pastor pursued an year long affair with me at age 18 (yikes). this experience, plus the other elements of egregious evil i’ve seen within the church at large has pushed me to remove myself completely with the idea of being a “Christian”, although i guess if you can be a “Christian” without being a homophobic, transphobic selfish and money-driven circus performer, you can call me one.
anyway, i love cs lewis and tolkien, i also love history, so anything super old would be right up my alley. open to fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, literally anything. thanks in advance!
