As the title says, I am really confused on which version of "The Count of Monte Cristo" I should read. I am going to read the book on Kindle, but there are so many different versions with different lengths and I am left extremely confused. One version has about 1250 pages, another 1500+ pages, and one only 870 pages. The one with 870 pages is "abridged" I guess, but I really don't know what this truly means, did the author shorten it? Or was it done later on? I appreciate any help you may offer!
