This Sunday, I'm going back to church for the first time since childhood. Church is pretty much the only social gathering place in my community, and you get ostracized if you don't go to church. A good job, marriage, friends, and safety net are all barred from you if you're not religious.
I want a book to ease the pain of suffering through church services. I have to give up my beliefs (that God doesn't exist), and embrace belief in God.
Thematically, the book should reflect what I feel about my life: God is jealous, and visits misfortunes and curses on those who abandon Him to force His worship.
