I grew up watching Gundam Wing and G Gundam back when they were on toonami, but coming back to Gundam in my 30's and I just find so much of the franchise uninteresting. Gundam isn't the story of The One Year War or the Gryps Conflict or Operation Shooting Star, it's the story of Amuro and Kamille and the Fab Five. And I'm sure that's good for some, but I don't know man, I just struggle to care.
As I've been working my way back through the franchise I've been thinking more and more that I'm just looking in the wrong place.
I want something more like Dunkirk (2017) or Band of Brothers which use multiple POV's to tell the story of an event or a unit in WWII.
About the only idea I've got is The Forever War and Old Man's War
