Just wondering if this has ever happened, you hear a lot about mishandling of adaptations from the books, or a situation where a good amount is changed but the movie itself is still amazing. But has there ever been a situation where a book wasn't very good, but had a phenomenal movie adaptation? Doesn't have to be completely accurate to the book, but the movie itself is much more entertaining than the book?

I wouldn’t call Carrie “bad,” but it pales in comparison to some of Stephen King’s later work. Brian de Palma’s film is better.
