I'm looking for books about a main character remembering their youth. Something similar to The Neapolitan Quartet by Elena Ferrante and A Girl Returned by Donatella Di Pietrantonio. My preferred genre is historical or literary fiction, but I'm also fine with character-driven fantasy if it doesn't have a lot of battles (I have read The Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, and I'm not interested in The Name of the Wind). Bonus points if the main character is queer and/or has grown up in poverty and has a toxic family.
