It doesn't have to be within the genre of action/terrorism really. Mysteries would also be okay. The only other author with the same kind of writing style as DeMille that I have read is Michael Connelly, and I do apologize if I'm not being specific enough, but kind of like short and to the point with fast pacing, and the protagonist making funny quips throughout is the type of book that I'm looking for.

That is ideal, but something similar to these writers. Connelly's main character (Bosch) doesn't have that kind of wise cracking attitude as John Corey, but the pacing is fun, and not too bogged down in details. So, something like these two authors. James Patterson's plots are a little too fantastical, and I couldn't suspend my imagination enough with him, so a bit more realistic fiction. Thanks in advance.

    1. John Sanford’s Virgil Flowers series (first book is Dark of the Moon) is a bit lighter than his Lucas Davenport series (first book is Rules of Prey). All are good reads and to me these have the same “vibe” as DeMille.
