Hello, lovely people! I am looking for good medieval historical fiction recommendations. Here are the ones I already read and what I thought of them. (Also, I should probably mention that I really enjoy religious topics but I will read anything that's enjoyable & medieval)

Loved: Name of the Rose (Umberto Eco), Iron King (Maurice Druon)

Hated: Pillars of the Earth (Ken Follett)

    Meh: Baudolino (Umberto Eco)

    1. The Brother Cadfael mysteries by Ellis Peters, starting with *A Morbid Taste for Bones.* A medieval monk solves mysteries in 12th century England, with a lot of stories partially taking place in Wales as well.

*The Bear and the Nightingale* by Katherine Arden. This one is also fantasy and is set in medieval Russia. There are a lot of religious themes here since it’s about a priest who comes from the city to a rural forest village and tries to rid them of their belief in folklore creatures… which the folklore creatures don’t take kindly to.

*The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi* by Shannon Chakraborty. Also a fantasy, this one featuring a ragtag group of medieval pirates in the Middle East. Some interesting stuff about medieval Islam and to a lesser extent Christianity.
