I almost hesitate to use the word “realistic” as that may imply it has to be unfunny and depressing. No. Romances can be wacky and full of happiness, but they can also be sad at many points. Realistic, in my opinion, means something that is familiar to every day life. That means a wide range of things.
Nevertheless, I’m looking less for swoony novels with cute illustrations of the characters on the cover (or half naked live action characters) and more so something… literary. But not like “A Little Life” type literary where everything is miserable. Something that is realistic to the human experience.
I’m in my early 20s so I prefer the characters to be around that age. I’ll accept teenagers or people in later 20s.
