⚠️TWs will be added before for the 2nd part of this post.⚠️

(No TW for this part, safe to read !)

    Hello guys !

× I'm so glad to have found this community right now, as I have been looking to get back into reading next week, right after my finals.

× Before beginning, I want to mention that I do not care about the genres/types of books !
It can be a poetry book, a fantasy book, a non-fiction book, whatever ! Doesn't even have to have a happy ending, or a sad one. Could be an open ending too !

× I can read in english and in french.

× The only 2 criterias that I have would be :

1- I want the story and characters to be plausible, which means I don't want romance coming from nowhere between characters with 0 chemistry (pun not intended) and not a plot that gets resolved (if it gets resolved) in 2 pages at the end of the book, please !

2- This one is more of an option, but I would LOVE IT if the books could make my brain overheating from trying to understand/guess what's going on or what will happen next.
× As a biology major and a science lover, I'm looking for books where science plays a huge part, but not only.

× I want books in which science is mixed with psychiatry.
× Which means that I want characters who have suffered and/or are suffering from mental illnesses. I want characters that aren't demonized by EVERYONE (they can be by some ofc) in the book for their mental illness.es. Characters that are trying to get better while others are actively getting worse/letting themselves sink.

× I genuinely don't think I've ever seen books with a story mixing science and psychology, which makes me sad cause these are my 2 everlasting hyperfixations 🙁

⚠️TWs for the following part and possibly the comments too : Mentions of suicide, mental illnesses, substance abuse.⚠️

× This part is more of a quick background check, just in case some people need more information to suggest books.

× So, I've always liked reading and always won reading competitions throughout my childhood. However, as I had high expectations put on me very young due to my ""potential"", I ended up burning out and kinda sank mentally from age 8 to 20.

× I have had quite the funny academy path, but ended up finding just the right one this year as a college biology student. I absolutely LOVE science, especially astrophysics and chemistry (yes, even though I'm in biology lmao).

× Another thing I absolutely LOVE is psychology/psychiatry, as I myself have suffered from mental illnesses & went through a lot of traumatic events that a child should never have to go through.

× Now, at 21, I'm almost completely recovered from what can be recovered, no more anxiety, depression, su*cide thoughts/attempts, OCD and I have been alcohol free since last October. However, I still have some disorders that objectively cannot ever be healed but can be managed, which I try my best to do.

× ANYWAYS, sorry for the backstory but I really wanted to give you guys the big lines to understand better what it is I might like/relate to !
