So I’ve never been a big reader. I was always one of the kids who used spark notes for every assigned reading in class. I’m half way through a bachelors degree in electrical engineering so I’ve always been more of an mathematical thinker than a literary one. I’ve always been a pretty decent writer, but as soon as I try to read something that someone else wrote I just want to get it over with ASAP. I’m looking for a book that will basically give me a new perspective on life as someone who is now looking down the barrel as to what post-grad life will look like and beginning a career that I’m not necessarily passionate about but don’t actively despise either. I feel like my childhood is slipping away and after spending the last few years partying and smoking weed to try and compensate for that, I want to start making the most of every day before my brain rots away and I just become another 9-5 corporate slave for the rest of my life.

People always talk about “the book that changed their life” and that’s basically what I’m looking for, as cheesy as that might sound. Obviously this can be different for everyone depending on their personality and life experiences but I’m looking for something that has resonated with a lot of people who might have been in similar situations to me. I don’t necessarily want the themes of the book to slap me in the face, but as I said, idk if I’ve finished a full novel in 5+ years so i don’t want anything too drawn out or nuanced either and it needs to be engaging so I don’t give up on it half way through. Can honestly be any genre, except like a sci fi or fantasy epic that might be entertaining, but not very introspective. Also not really looking for a “self-help” book but more of an actual storyline with interesting characters who have inspiring arcs
