I like many have mixed feelings about Hanya Yanagihara's book A Little Life, without spoiling it is very intense and triggering in a way that some people describe as gratuitous or "torture porn". While I don't fully disagree with these takes, I do think her prose and the way she writes characters is breathtaking. I love the depiction of true coming of age, from college to middle age, I love the lush descriptions, and I love the very human dynamics between characters. I am looking for a book right mlw at will make me feel as intensely as her writing. It doesn't need to absolutely crush the reader with how depressing it is, but something that evokes the similar feelings as the way she depicts characters does.
