Looking for something that's unnerving/disturbing and will pick away at me in the quiet of the night when I let my mind wander. A suspenseful novel where it doesn't turn out of be just a crooked real estate developer.
While I love Stephen King, I've already read a significant portion of his short stories and novels. He can also be a little hit-or-miss sometimes. I just finished Flight Or Fright and it was…ok (yes, I know he was just the editor).
I also have "The Mammoth Book of Cthulhu: New Lovecraftian Fiction" that I'm working my way through, more misses than hits, unfortunately.
No vampires please, I've never been into them.
