As soon as I saw this book in the bookstore, I immediately bought it. And so I read it and I want to say, "Why did I take so long with it?".

The plot here tells about a robbery. But the valuable cargo here is not a pile of gold, but a man who created a very powerful drug for Grisha, which strengthens their powers 10 times.

I like that Bardugo took into account her mistakes in writing the plot, because if you want the plot to stand still, then do it interestingly. Most of the book is about coming up with a plan and remembering characters on board the ship. And it doesn't get boring because of the characters, but about them later. Himself is dynamic, there was no moment when I would be bored, and all Chekhov's guns fired at the right moments.

Now about the characters. There are six main characters here and let's go through each one briefly. Except Kaz.

1.Kaz Brekker is a good example of a dark, mysterious character. He does not use his sad past for manipulation, does not behave like an asshole, can be treacherous and cruel at the right time, treats his team with respect, albeit in his own manner. I just remember "Gotikana" and how the same character was written there (spoiler is very bad).

2.Inej is a good example of how to create female Assassins. Instead of just saying how dangerous she is, the author shows us this, but without exposing her as invulnerable.

3.Jesper is a comic relief and he's funny, but he's also a special one for getting adventures on his ass.

4.Nina turned out to be a charming woman. She is kind, like a mother from fairy tales (not to be confused with a stepmother), but if necessary, she will give someone a beating.

5.Mathias has the most interesting arch here. A man who killed Grisha for the sake of his country must rob the place that was his home and understand what his homeland really is. Although it seemed to me that his arch turned out to be somehow fast, but it was interesting.

6.Wylan turned out to be the least prescribed character of all and is rather in the background most of the time, but his relationship with Jasper is funny (I know what will happen to them in the sequel).

And one of the advantages here, I think, is that each character feels necessary, because try to remove someone and the plot will go in a different direction altogether. Also, everyone has their own motives for the robbery.

Let's talk about the text. He's good. The author made subchapters on behalf of some character, for example, in one chapter she tells everything from the perspective of Jesper, and in the next from Nina. He himself has a light style, detailed and beautiful descriptions that immediately form in head a picture of what the invention looks like and a place that does not exist in our world.

This is a very good YA. It has an interesting plot, memorable characters, beautiful and light text.
