i find contemporary romance a bit of a chore to get through. not to yuck anyone’s yum, but for me, the pacing often feels too rushed and not entirely believable.

so, i'm on the hunt for two specific types of books and would love your recommendations. 🫶

    • unconventional romance: stories with romantic elements that aren't the main focus. for instance, i adored the remains of the day by kazuo ishiguro.

    • true love story: something that's moody, full of yearning, and unfolds slowly. something all-consuming. i wanna lie on the floor and stare at the ceiling for an hour when i’m done with it lmao.

for context: i’m into literary fiction and translated works, but i’m open to all suggestions. lgbtq+ themes are a plus! 🥀
