Last year, I read the three psychological-philosophical books on revolutionary ideology by Arthur Koestler (Darkness at noon, Arrival and departure and Spartacus). I also read The kindly ones by Jonathan Litell. I'm going on a holiday soon and as a political junky and historian I would love to get lost again in a grim, analytical book such as those by Koestler. Or in a larger than life story zooming in on the epitomy of human evil such as the kindly ones offered. What are your recommendations?
