I want a dark book that will change my perspective on life. I'm a huge fan of books like No Longer Human(and all the Osamu Dazai books), or philosophy books like Plato's Republic. I also love books like I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream
But I rly want a depressing book that can give me a good cry too and make me think(I swear I'm fine, I just like sad content from time to time lol). I don't like books like A Little Life; they're not rly that sad, I thought I would cry but it was just unnecessarily edgy/disturbing.
Does anyone know "that book" for my taste? Appreciate any help!

Have you ever read Let the Righ One In? Let’s just say they made two films based on it for a reason. It’s the type of books that really sticks with you…
Flowers for Algernon is a good one that is depressing as well as making you think really deeply about life as well.
The Great Alone was sad as shit. Very hard to get through.
The Kite Runner perhaps.
Consider Passage by Connie Willis.
Summer , fireworks and my corpse by Otsuichi, Goth by Otsuichi, black fairy tale by Otsuichi, Zoo by Otsuichi
