Long time lurker, first time poster.
I've utilized some of the other posts on this subreddit to find some books that I felt might fit what I was looking for. Alas, I have not been successful in finding the right book or author, so I'm going to try my own post.
I've traditionally liked Dean Koontz as an author. His books were easy reads (short chapters; I'm a slow reader) and kept me captivated. Unfortunately, his latest book was a big bust, in my opinion, so I'm looking for help finding other authors with a similar style. I also hoped to have a bit of comedy or wit in the story.
I've tried Terry Pratchett, who was a bit too quirky for me. I don't need to read a series of books… one-off books would be fine.
