I've finished Shogun and Tai-Pan and both were amazing.
The next one in the series is Gai-Jin but it has 3.9 on GR (vs 4.41 & 4.30 for Shogun and Tai-Pan respectively)
Even the other books, King Rat and Noble House, have decent ratings (4.18 & 4.27 respectively).
Whirlpool has 3.86 but I could skip it as it's the last book of the saga.
Reviews for Gai-Jin also seem mixed on r/books.
Thoughts? It's a big book and will require a decent time investment so a little apprehensive.
