Anyone else dislike super “heady” books where the main character’s trauma makes them forget important details? It’s lazy writing to me.

Girl on the Train is one example. And when they make these types of books into movies they’re always incredibly boring and uninteresting. Like “oh no, I fell and hit my head. Forgot many details because of my trauma.” I like silent patient but that is another example that was done well, with better writing. As a film though, it would tank for the same reason. Thoughts?
