I read a mix of written and audio. I just finished the audio version of Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King and read by Frances Sternhagen and I don't think I've ever heard a better reading of a book. Her voice truly embodied the character for me and I don't think I would have like the book as much as I did in written form.

The Slough House series by Mick Herron! Gerard Doyle is the narrator and he’s absolutely incredible. He embodies Jackson Lamb especially well, and has a great sense of humor. I cannot recommend those highly enough.
Another fun series is the Fetch Phillips series by Luke Arnold (who you may know from the show Black Sails). He narrates them himself and is super engaging and fun to listen to!
I don’t know about *better*, but David Sedaris is great to listen to.
