    I’ve read and loved Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden, and honestly not much else! (Other than a TON of medieval fantasy).

    I would prefer medieval but classical or dark age are okay too.

    Hundred Years’ War could be great.

    bonus points for gritty!

    Some series I’m looking at are Master of War by David Gilman and Epic Adventure by Colin Falconer.

    1. The Baroque Cycle and Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson.

      The Baroque Cycle, 2003-4, is a series of books about events in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central America during the 17th and 18th centuries. It follows the lives of many characters during this time.

      The book “Cryptonomicon” was written in 1999. It’s a story that talks about many different things, like the history of Alan Turing and codebreaking during World War II, and also a more modern story about creating a safe place for keeping digital information.

      The Crystal Cave and The Hollow Hills by Mary Stewart
