Hi there! I was hoping to get some help from this sub.

I used to be a suuuper avid reader when I was a kid, it used to be one of my favorite pass times, that being said, I've always been visually impaired. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older, even while using glasses, along side that, I have ADHD and dyslexia. Growing up with these challenges made reading pretty difficult, especially in school where I had to stretch my brain between several subjects, and even moreso the past few years because I'm an adult who up until recently was working a full-time job.

A little over two months ago, I got laid off. I've been pretty bored. I beat all the video games I had, wrote some songs, started taking better care of myself etc. I feel like I've ran out of things to do already and I've really been feeling the urge to read again. My problem is though, I don't know where to start lol. I don't know what books are popular, which authors are good or anything really. I have an idea of what I used to love reading, and topics I'm into now, so I was hoping to get some book recommendations through that.

All quiet on the western front was an all time favourite of mine, same with the outsiders. I really liked the Percy Jackson series in middle school, so I think a more adult version of that would be cool. I absolutely hated catcher in the rye.

Outside of books, I love anything that's fantasy. I really love Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, I also love the older elder scrolls games for their lore, (Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion). I adore the Metal Gear Solid series for it's in-depth story telling and it's commentaries on war and humanity.

I also love learning about nature, science, music, music history, civilizations, war and history in general.

Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated, thank you. 🙂
