I love romance in historical fiction books but I need the book to be about something else, with the romance being just a part of the wider story… any recs?
Some examples of the types of books I’m after are As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann, The Mercies & The Dance Tree by Kiran Millwood-Hargrave, The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton.
No YA or WWII recommendations please!

I read her books years ago, but The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig was a favorite of mine! There’s a whole series of books, if you want more! I never finished them, but I remember enjoying them a lot.
