As a queer trans man I'm working towards centering the stories and perspectives of my community in my life and distancing from the cisgender/heterosexual norms that make me feel terrible about myself. I'm on a non-fiction kick and for pride month I'm reading The Velvet Rage but I would love more reccomendations. I don't just mean the masculinity of trans men or queer men specifically. I really love reading about the butch lesbian experience and have picked up Hijab Butch Blues as well. I love books that combine theory and lived experience. It's easy to find resources about queer femininity as figures such as drag queens become poster children for the movement but I'm really trying to explore masculinity now as someone who's had his entire life to explore femininity but only a couple years to mess with masculinity.
