A handful of medical emergencies with my kids, the death of my first husband, being slowly diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, birth of an extremely premature daughter, covid brain fog. All of this kind of swirled together over the course of 5 years and just killed my passion for reading. I'm only just recently able to read books again and not feel like it's a chore.

I'm dying to sink into a few good books this summer. So, I figured I'd snap a few photos of my most read/loved books and see what you guys could come up with for suggestions.

A few things: I do like some amount of magic, but not full out fantasy. I do like some amount of history (LOVE Phillipa Gregory), but not pages long narratives of the battle field. I love heavy old American literature like East of Eden or my college American Lit textbook just as much as I love simple escape literature like Other Birds. I like social science books as well, though that feels more like winter reading for some reason.

I really really love those books where you feel like you're saying goodbye to your best friend when you finish the last page.

I'd LOVE to spend this summer reading and falling back into the magical world of stories again. I just saw that I cannot add images to this, so I'll post them in the comments.
