Like the title says, I’m trying to get some book recs for two separate…vibes? I’m not sure the right word. I’d prefer no romance centric stuff but I’m good with fantasy, Scifi, horror, thriller…really anything so long as it’s not like…in your face sex stuff. Edit: I’m also okay with YA
Return of the Obra Dinn: this one is an indie game about someone investigating the deaths that occurred on a ship. It involves using a relic to see what happened/how the people died. Supernatural and sea related events occur
- I have read McGlue. Not my favorite but did have a similar vibe
Repo The Genetic Opera: A rock opera about a dystopian world where people pay to get surgery or new body parts and if they don’t pay for it, they send the repo man to reclaim the items. Capitalist drama because of how the world is basically doomed to continue the cycle….not sure if I’m explaining that very well, but I highly recommend it regardless
So….yeah, any recs would be super helpful

* Sleep Donation by Karen Russell. I have not read this yet, but it sounds like it might be similar to Repo the Genetic Opera.
* Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. A very over-the-top partially satirical dystopia. Do be warned there is one detailed sex scene towards the end of the book.
* The Invincible by Stanislaw Lem. A scientific expedition goes to an alien planet to investigate what happened to the previous scientific expedition.
