I have really enjoyed the Divergent and Hunger Games series, so I was wondering if there were any similar series? I liked the action aspect with it being similar to “our world” but not completely fantasy or unrealistic. I also liked how there was romance in these books, but it wasn’t the main focus it was a nice little “side quest” in a way. (I know that it sounds dumb, sorry!) Anyways, I was just wondering if you guys had any dystopian recommendations. Also, even if it isn’t completely like these (Hunger Games or Divergent) any dystopian series or novels (recommendations) would be appreciated!! ☺️

    Sorry for rambling 🥲

The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman is quite good, it gets pretty dark, but so do your examples.

Terra Invictus. It’s a modern day science fiction fantasy. It begins pre-dystopian as the world and society begins to collapse. It is heavy on conspiracy, war, pandemic, Roman Republic Lore, mythology, fallen angels, secret societies, extraterrestrials and survival. It follows 2 POVs. A man and a woman. Jack who is an American from Texas and the leader or his modern day Order of Knights and Valentia who is a Romacarth General of Roman ancestry who lives in Nova Roma and fights to keep the monsters of the outer worlds at bay. Both are superb tacticians in their respective worlds. Book came out earlier this year on printed copy and Ebook but the audiobook just came out.

Genesis echo by d. Hollis Anderson – near future dystopian scifi in an alien empire / alternate reality !!!

    6. first book of the Red Rising series is basically the Hunger Games on mars. it’s dystopian future in space, so maybe not close enough to what you’re looking for but figured I’d mention it ☺️

I’d call the whole series Star Wars + Hunger Games + Game of Thrones mixed together

    7. The silo books.  The first one is “wool”
I’d recommend checking them out, I’ve only read the first one, but it shares a decent amount of similarities.

You can also maybe try “giver.”
It’s a children’s book, or maybe very young adult, I remember loving it when I read it maybe 25-30 years ago
