So this is going to be oddly specific but I’ve discovered that I enjoy brothers dynamics. I was obsessed with supernatural for that reason. are there any books (or movies, or series for that matter) that have a big emphasis on brotherly relationships. Doesn’t have to be fantasy like supernatural, if anything I probably prefer a more realistic setting however I can do either/or. I don’t care much for romance but again, can do either/or.
Much like supernatural, I also like it when there is sympathy to give, like with sams character and his arc season 1-5 (I won’t give spoilers away just in case) but I just like that whole brooding, struggling with internal battles type character.
I like it when characters fight/argue, have disagreements etc.
Any suggestions welcome, even if they only tick some of the boxes.

I asked a friend of mine who loves stories around brothers/brotherhood. Here’s what he suggested.
### Realistic Settings
**1. “East of Eden” by John Steinbeck**
– This classic novel delves into the complex relationships between two sets of brothers, focusing on themes of good and evil, jealousy, and redemption.
**2. “The Brothers K” by David James Duncan**
– A multi-generational family saga that centers on the lives of the Chance brothers, exploring their relationships, struggles, and personal growth.
**3. “This Boy’s Life” by Tobias Wolff**
– A memoir that provides an intense look at the author’s tumultuous relationship with his brother and their struggles growing up.
### Fantasy and Supernatural
**4. “The Lies of Locke Lamora” by Scott Lynch**
– While not solely about brothers, the bond between Locke and his best friend Jean is as close as brothers, filled with loyalty, conflict, and deep emotional connection.
**5. “The Giver of Stars” by Jojo Moyes**
– Though not about biological brothers, the friendships and conflicts among the central group of characters provide a similar dynamic, with strong emotional bonds and internal struggles.
### Mixed Media (Movies and Series)
**6. “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton (book and movie)**
– Focuses on the bond between Ponyboy and his brothers Darry and Sodapop, dealing with family loyalty, struggles, and personal growth.
**7. “Peaky Blinders” (TV series)**
– This series follows the Shelby brothers in post-WWI Birmingham, exploring their tight-knit relationship, power struggles, and personal demons.
**8. “A River Runs Through It” (book by Norman Maclean and movie)**
– A beautifully written story about two brothers growing up in early 20th-century Montana, dealing with family expectations, personal choices, and brotherly love.
Thank him, I’m only a messenger (I always wanted to say this line)
