As much as I like compiling together multiple sources to get a wider perspective on history, I'm wondering if there's a one-stop shop source for a history of the American West, something like McPherson's "Battle Cry of Freedom" (loved that book!). I'm interested in all the historical icons – Earp and Hickock etc – but also something that gives a bit more not just of the Native American perspective, but also that doesn't treat all Native American peoples as one.
Maybe a tall ask, but I guess I just want to see what the closest option out there is!
