I will always recommend Gideon the Ninth at every chance I get, it’s my favorite! The Murderbot Diaries and Ancillary Justice are also really good ones I’ve read recently
[Michael Crichton](https://www.michaelcrichton.com/) is always fun if you’ve never done his stuff. [*Jurassic Park*](https://www.michaelcrichton.com/works/jurassic-park/), obviously, especially if you like the movie, but they are all great.
The Cradle series by Will Wight! Its a longer series but all the books are like 200-300 pages so on the shorter side and they are all quick and easy reads 🙂 its so good and often one of my recs for people looking to get into reading, one of my all time favorites. It is progression fantasy so its focused on the main character going from being basically the weakest person in the world to being crazy strong by the end of the series
Good Omens is a lot of fun, and an intro to 2 of my favorite authors
Scholomance trilogy (Naomi Novik) is great, very engaging right away
Same for Raven Boys (Maggie Stiefvater)
My BF wasn’t a reader, he started with books that became movies/TV shows that he loved.
Edit: Jurassic Park, Sphere, The Martian, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Contact, etc. He also loved Ready Player One, but read that before the movie (which was new for him)
