I’m looking to start reading again to try to overcome my last 9 years, help me stay busy when not at work, and help me understand what’s happened, happening, and to come. A good self help recommendation or anything along those lines would be truely appreciated. I need a goos book to keep me busy and help me understand why I stayed for so long and how to prevent this cycle and once I see the slightest red flag I will not hesitate to walk away. Sorry for all the TMI.. but I’m really needing suggestions. Thank you again 🩵

{{Codependent no more}} is a good one. To understand and start healing trauma: {{Complex PTSD by Pete Walker}}. More of an easy self-help read: {{Women who love too much by Robin Norwood}}. And therapy if you have access to it, even if only to get an outside perspective and pinpoint the core issues.
*why does he do that? inside the minds of angry and controlling men* – lundy bancroft. have not read the whole thing yet, but the sections I’ve read were very helpful. and I’ve heard it’s changed many women’s lives.
have also heard good things about *the gift of fear: survival signals that protect us from violence* – gavin de becker
wishing you all the best 💜
