Don’t be weirded out I mean books where the MC or multiple MCs are teens or similar and they are put in situations where their lives are at stakes, situations that they shouldn’t be in because they’re just kids. Can be any genre tbh, I just wanna cry lol

It by Stephen King immediately springs to mind.
The Girl Who Owned A City by O.T Nelson. It’s not really a tearjerker, but what happens to the main antagonist is definitely traumatic. Graphic novel version is recommended. Only warning is that it seems to be set up to have a sequel but doesn’t.
Daughter of Dragons, Jack Campbell
“That’s Not My Name” by Megan Lally.

Six of Crows and Gideon the Ninth
Indivisible by Daniel Aleman, this one had me in tears and is very much a “but they are just kids” read
All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody
If We Were Villains by ML Rio
