There are all sorts of novels that deal with romantic breakups—I want to read about the platonic version, a book that deals with female friends whose relationship disintegrates in a painful way, not because of anything especially shocking or melodramatic (eg, not because they're fighting over the same guy or one girl is a serial killer or something) but just because they drift apart.
Literary fiction is the most likely genre, but I'm also open to literary-adjacent genre fiction that explores this as a major theme. No romance novels though, please!
