*Finding Me* by Viola Davis meets all your criteria (read by the author AND a terrific narrator, and what she had to overcome is almost unbelievable).
I’ll also never get tired of recommending *I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings* by Maya Angelou. It is both an exceptional memoir and a captivating audiobook.
Run Towards the Danger by this year’s Oscar winner for best adapted screenplay Sarah Polley is an indictment on abuse of child actors that Glad My Mom Died wanted to be. Each essay is about her coming to terms and overcoming trauma.
I’m halfway through Making It So by Patrick Stewart and I’m loving it.
