I’ve seen Blood Meridian recommended a lot in this sub. Sure, it’s one of my all time favourite books – but if you’re not into its almost nihlisitic portrait of death and destruction, try All the Pretty Horses. I read the book along with its sequels The Crossing and Plains. The other two are good (The Crossing is a slog tho) but I’m reminded of just how awesome ATPH is. A beautifully written, coming of age western set in the 20th century.
