I’m out of ideas for my older brother (38M), but he’s really into pop culture and its history/analysis. I’m hoping to get him a book for Christmas that fits into this category.
He loves sci-fi/fantasy books, movies, and TV shows. Everything from Star Wars and Star Trek, to Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings, to The Martian and The Apollo Murders.
Thanks!

Maybe a subscription to [Locus Magazine](https://locusmag.com)? There will be a special holiday gift offer starting in December. Would be especially appropriate if he has any interest in writing himself.
Maybe you could look at the Hugo Award [Best Related Work](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Award_for_Best_Related_Work) category?
This is kind of a “miscellaneous” category but a lot of them are Nonfiction books or essays. This year’s winner was “Terry Pratchett: A Life in Footnotes” which is a biography.
Not sure if this fits here- A Nightmare’s Point of View – Sci-fi Dark Fantasy
For fantasy. Has he read any of the disc world books by Terry Prachet? They are a comedic take/parody on the fantasy genre with a lot of world building.
‘A Trillion Year Spree’ by Brian Aldiss is a great history of SF, but is no more available as new.
You could maybe find a ‘fresh’ second hand copy on AbeBooks.
