I feel like reading a short story collection, not too worried about the genre, I like most of them as long as it’s well written and am happy to push my boundaries. I’ve read Skeleton Crew, Exhalation, and Tales of the South Pacific. I’d prefer the collections follow a central theme or mood rather than “The collected works of this guy”, but if it’s good enough I don’t mind.
Some of my favorite books and series are
• Lonesome Dove
• One Hundred Years of Solitude
• Hyperion
• The Expanse
• Discworld
• Earthsea
• East of Eden

You might enjoy Kelly Link. Try Magic for Beginners.
_Things We Lost in the Fire_ by Mariana Enríquez
Horror short story collection set in contemporary Argentina, explores inequality, corruption and violence. There is graphic content so take any cautions you need to.
Some modern classics:
– _Going to Meet the Man_ by James Baldwin
– _Tales of Nevèrÿon_ by Samuel R. Delaney
Aliens in the Prime of Their Lives by Brad Watson
My personal favorite is “Nine Stories” by J.D. Salinger.
Also, if you’re a Discworld fan you may already know about them but Pratchett has several short story collections. Some are stories he wrote for children when he worked at a newspaper and then “A Blink of the Screen” which even has some Discworld short stories in it.
Orson Scott Card has several of these. Try *The Changed Man*?
My favorite thus far is “The Secret Lives of Church Ladies” by Deesha Philyaw. Also loved “Her Bodies and Other Parties” by Carmen Maria Machado
The Complete Stories of Flannery O’Connor—if you dig regionalist fiction like Steinbeck (East of Eden is probably my favorite novel of all time), you’ll enjoy reading her. She’s why the term “southern gothic” exists.
