I read the Silo series by Hugh Howey years ago and I really loved it. The recent TV adaptation got me thinking about it again, and there’s something I’m searching for that hopefully I can convey correctly.

Ideally, something with sci-fi/post-apocalyptic vibes (not a requirement and fantasy is fine too) with a sense of mystery. Where the main character gradually realizes something isn’t right with their world or society and secrets are eventually uncovered.

Similarly, books which involve interactions and revelations between old and new technologies/civilizations. Think of The Last of Us or Horizon Zero Dawn or The Expanse.

Even something with a feeling where the book gets turned on its head at some point, like when things click together in books like Shutter Island or The Silent Patient. What I loved about Silo was that early on you realize something isn’t right or that there’s more to the world than the main character realizes or has previously been allowed to realize.
