I’m looking for books that feel very bleak and stick in your brain. Preferably with female protagonists but not necessarily. Some of my favorite books like this are Night Film by Marisha Pessl, Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter, My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn & All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood. I’m trying to break a months long reading slump and these books tend to grip me the most.
