Apologies if it’s the wrong tag. This honestly could have gone into “Psychology”, “Romance” and “Mystery/Thriller” too.
Fiction only suggestions, as I’m already aware of Esther Perel’s work, so for non-fiction I think I’m covered!
To help narrow it down:
\- I’m **not** looking for something that romanticizes or glorifies cheating;
\- I’m more interested in the moral and philosophical aspects of it, as well as an exploration of the dilemma of a good person doing a bad thing (hence “human psyche” and “internal moral compass”), but in the context of fictional work;
\- The closest thing I can think of that isn’t romance/cheating related would be *Crime and Punishment* by Fiódor Dostoiévski, which explores a similar idea with human morality, but with murder instead.
