Hello! I have a friend that I like buying books for. In previous years, she’s absolutely loved novels from Natsume Soseki, Mizuki Tsujimura, and Takashi Hiraide.
She’s gotten an interest in Ancient Egypt, and I want to surprise her with some books that have a similar writing style as Soseki, Tsujimura, and Hiraide.
As far as I know, she has no deep interest in the mythology, so the novels should be more about the people, philosophy, and so on. I’m at a complete loss myself. I think I’ve read exactly one novel that took place in Egypt, and only indirectly. Magic can be a part of the story, I just don’t think she’ll appreciate a magic fantasy about gods and high stakes, if that makes sense.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
