Where were you when you first read (or watched) Leslie’s death in Bridge to Terabithia? How old were you?

I was in fourth grade, riding the school bus home. I had been reading my book like I always did on the bus, and then she was dead. Just… gone. I was sobbing on the school bus and no one around me could understand what had happened. I don’t think I had ever read anything so emotionally challenging before, but I’m glad I read it at the age I did. Honestly, I don’t think my thirteen-year-old sister has read anything half as deep.
