    Hello,
    In the recent months I’ve read:

    Shifter series by Shelly Laurenston (really loved this series)
    The dragonian series by Adrienne Woods
    Fourth wing series by Rebecca Yarros
    The Grisha series by Leigh bardugo
    The fey series by Julie Kagawa

    All of these series I’ve really enjoyed (although I could have done without the 18+ scènes tbh (mainly shifter series had them, and those parts are not why I read books).

    My main preferences in reading are: fantasy, mythical creatures, and magic. (Eragon books did those really well).
    I hope i have given enough information so people can suggest me new series, since I am closing in on the end of the shifter series

    Thank you for reading this, and have a good day

    1. Khieverbooks on

      This is right up my alley!

      Kelley Armstrong: she writes both YA and Adult in the same universe but you don’t have to read the adult ones

      – the Summoning (Darkest Powers) by Kelley Armstrong

      “It tells a story of Chloe, a 15-year old girl who suddenly finds herself capable of seeing ghosts. Only, of course, nobody believes her and she is quickly sent to a boarding house for disturbed kids for psychological evaluation.” Mythical creatures, fantasy, and magic

      -Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

      “It’s about a girl called Bryn and at a very young age of four she watched her parents being murdered and slaughtered in front of her. She was supposed to be next, but that never happened because Callum, a strong fierce alpha, had saved her. He brought her home with him and marked her as his, even if she was human.” This was written right after the Twilight craze but before wolf tropes really took off, if I recall correctly. It’s YA

      -Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

      “The story focuses on a girl named Evie, a member of a special international police force assigned to paranormal cases. As the tale progresses, Evie’s professional duties begin to conflict with her growing desire for a normal life.” YA, super cute, and one of my favorites growing up

      -Talon by Julie Kagawa (you already read this author)

      “Dragon v. dragonslayer

      To take her rightful place in the powerful Talon organization, hatchling Ember Hill must prove she can hide her dragon nature and blend in with humans. Her delight at the prospect of a summer of human teen experiences is short-lived, however, once she discovers that she must also train for her destined career in Talon. But a chance meeting with a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught.

      Garret Xavier Sebastian, a young dragonslayer in the top-secret Order of St. George, is tasked with hunting her down. But when faced with Ember’s bravery, confidence, and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything the Order has ingrained in him and what he might be willing to give up to learn the truth about dragons.” YA. I’ve only read the first two but I remember really liking them

      -Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick (The angel YA novel)

      -Nimona (Graphic Novel, out on Netflix)

      Villain vs. Hero in a medieval setting with magic and shapeshifters

      -Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey

      Knights chosen by magical horses to serve the queen. It’s a very good high fantasy fic, but does have more adult content in later books (I believe it’s all fade to black, but I’m not sure)

      I also recommend also looking into all Tamora Pierce books (Lioness Quartet first), Patricia Briggs (adult shifter series), Six of Crows (also Leigh Bardugo), Holly Black (I’m not a fan but she and Leigh Bardugo write in the same circles), and Hive Mind by Janet Edwards (telepathic people in a sci-fi society and my latest obsession)

    2. Here’s some fantasy novels you may like with magic, but unfortunately not many mythical creatures:

      * A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher

      * The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie

      * Chrysanthe by Yves Meynard

      * Sabriel by Garth Nix.
