Only thing I can recall from my library is “The Diary of Mattie Spenser” by Sandra Dallas. It’s a novel with composite characters but includes a lot of realities the Colorado Plains settlers dealt with. Also part of the book involves a trip to the Denver area.
It was a harsh environment and the book is harsh in places. But it comes together nicely. I enjoyed the audiobook several years ago. I forget the years it all occurred in … 1840’s maybe? Written mostly as reading a woman’s personal journal.
