I need books that take place in our time, published in the last 20-50 years, with strong voice, fast paced but the prose is still beautiful. Is this possible? It seems in order for the prose to be beautiful, the pace has to be slow.
A big bonus if it’s middle grade or YA.
Fantasy, romance, thriller, suspense, supernatural, mystery, or anything that keeps me on the edge of my seat would be fine.
Strong voice and beautiful prose are important because I want to write better. So any recommendations would be appreciated.

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Steivfater. Love her writing style and the story is excellent
Also, although it’s new adult rather than young adult, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
{{The Screaming Staircase}} for sure! The first few pages will have you hooked.
“Gentlemen of the Road” by Michael Chabon
House of Hollow, some of the best prose I’ve read this year, very stylistic, and pretty fast paced.
