I haven’t been a diehard audiobook listener until recently. I’m finding that about 1/3 – 1/2 of them have shitty narrators. I’m listening to one now, and I can tell by the actual words that the character is supposed to be sarcastic and wry. But the narrator is making it all sound so wistful that it’s making the whole thing suck.
And what’s up with the abundance of southern accents? I mean, stories that don’t even take place in the south all seem to have at least one character who talks like that.
